Singapore, 27 September 2022 – Singtel today announced that it is the official network partner of GPSS 2022, powering the experiences and festivities along Orchard Road and Clarke Quay with 5G. With nationwide 5G coverage, F1 race spectators, visitors to the various MICE events coinciding with the race, locals and tourists alike will be able to experience the high-speed connectivity and ultra-low latency of Singtel’s 5G network from anywhere on the island.

The first country to be fully covered by standalone 5G network, Singtel is taking the 5G experience to the next level at the GPSS 2022 and F1. In a world’s first, Singtel will be applying the most advanced form of network slicing technology[1] to support its digital app marketplace, CAST. “We’re extremely excited and honoured to be the official network partner for the upcoming Grand Prix season. This is also why we raced to complete our nationwide standalone 5G coverage in July, 3 years ahead of schedule, in time for Singapore’s National Day and now F1. “

Anna Yip,
Chief Executive Officer,
Consumer, Singtel

Ms Anna Yip, CEO of Consumer Singapore, Singtel, said, “We’re extremely excited and honoured to be the official network partner for the upcoming Grand Prix season. This is also why we raced to complete our nationwide standalone 5G coverage in July, 3 years ahead of schedule, in time for Singapore’s National Day and now F1. As the first major international event held here since travel restrictions lifted, this race is significant as it marks Singapore’s comeback and demonstrates the potential of 5G to drive innovation and unlock new digital use cases that can help boost the nation’s recovery. Our CAST app gives race fans full visibility of the track action by enabling high-definition content streaming while locals and tourists can enjoy other digital experiences from making video calls, augmented reality gaming and more with 5G – bringing greater fun to the festivities.”

With Sports Plus on Singtel CAST, at S$9.90 for the week, customers can also enjoy the race on their 5G mobile devices which will offer an enhanced lag-free, high-speed streaming experience. To find out more about CAST.sg and Sports Plus, visit cast.singtel.com.

  • The Singtel 5G Experience booth, open daily from 11am to 10pm in front of Ngee Ann City from 23 September to 2 October, will include an immersive 3D augmented reality race simulator that enables users to feel like their favourite F1 drivers, showcasing the high-speed, ultra-low latency advantages of 5G. The first 100 visitors to the booth who share a photo of their experience on their social platforms with the hashtag #Singtel5GEverywhere stand to walk away with exclusive 5G merchandise.
  • The Singtel 5G network will also be powering the live broadcasts from the Mediacorp roadshow, for the first time, on Orchard Road via 5G SIM cards instead of local area network cables or WiFi, ensuring smooth, ultra-low latency transmission of their content. Visitors can catch their favourite Mediacorp DJs and artistes such as Justin Ang, Vernetta Lopez, Dennis Chew, Qi Yuwu and many more, hosting games and giving away premiums on site or via their online radio app.
  • Over at *SCAPE, Singtel 5G will be powering the Teleios Next-Gen Racing Simulators which feature actual training scenarios used by F1 drivers for users to try their hand at.

Singtel customers can also enjoy exclusive perks at the precinct activations, such as:

leave a comment »

Enabling enteprises to develop 5G use cases, drive innovation and accelerate digital transformation

Singapore, 9 September 2022 – Singtel today announced its collaboration with Intel to establish a 5G Multi-access Edge Compute (MEC) incubator that will enable enterprises to adopt 5G seamlessly, deploy applications that need low latency processing at the edge, drive innovation and accelerate their digital transformation.

“Singtel’s 5G network and Paragon MEC platform are transforming operations in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, smart logistics, healthcare, retail, transportation and urban planning. With Intel, we’re collectively bringing together our best of breed knowledge, expertise, assets and ecosystem to help address business needs, improve operational efficiencies, unlock new opportunities and advance in a 5G world “

Bill Chang,
Chief Executive Officer,
Group Enterprise and Regional Data Centre Business, Singtel

Mr Bill Chang, Chief Executive Officer, Group Enterprise and Regional Data Centre Business, Singtel, said, “Singtel’s 5G network and Paragon MEC platform are transforming operations in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, smart logistics, healthcare, retail, transportation and urban planning. With Intel, we’re collectively bringing together our best of breed knowledge, expertise, assets and ecosystem to help address business needs, improve operational efficiencies, unlock new opportunities and advance in a 5G world.”

The incubator will be powered by Intel’s 4th Gen Xeon Scalable processors and Intel Data Center GPU, codenamed Ponte Vecchio and supported by Singtel’s Paragon, a one-stop orchestration platform for 5G edge computing and cloud services, which will simplify the adoption of these 5G services for enterprises. The collaboration will focus on developing the application and ecosystems to deliver transformational enterprise and consumer use cases like high-definition content delivery, cloud gaming, video analytics, virtual-augmented-mixed reality and metaverse.

Mr Christoph Schell, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Intel said, “As enterprises navigate a significant digital transformation, technologies like 5G, edge, artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud play a key role in helping to deliver new use cases. Our collaboration with Singtel will help accelerate use of these technologies to solve real business challenges, by utilising our unique combination of hardware and software spanning Xeon, GPUs, Smart Edge, OpenVINO and more, and also a broad portfolio of ecosystem innovations.“

Enterprises can tap into Singtel and Intel’s ecosystem to deliver their 5G use cases, including ready-to-deploy applications for rapid trials and proof of concepts for research and development. One of the first successful trials on the platform is a content delivery solution. Other ongoing trials include a video analytics AI solution in collaboration with Axis Communications, a mixed reality usage solution for realtime workspace collaboration with HTC, and energy-saving technology developed by Quanta that enables a more sustainable MEC platform for enterprises. See Annex A for details on the trials.

Singtel and Intel jointly welcome solution providers who have cutting-edge 5G applications to join the programme and the incubator for rapid trials and pilots. As more solution providers join the ecosystem, enterprises will have access to a greater range of capabilities and solutions to hone their operations.

Solution providers that are keen to onboard their applications to the ecosystem and execute joint trialswith enterprises, can contact Singtel at s-5gtrials@singtel.com.

###

ANNEX A – Ecosystem use cases developed in collaboration with Singtel and Intel

  1. One of the first solutions to be trialled was an accelerated content delivery solution. Initial trials have shown a significant reduction in the time needed to load videos – by up to 46 percent on 5G Edge MEC compared to 4G with public cloud. Customers who operate Digital Twin technology stand to benefit from this solution which enables higher video resolution and increases the accuracy of real-time video analytics for mission critical use-cases. The solution, soon to be launched commercially, also enables enterprises to identify potential use cases in areas like mixed reality, cloud gaming, metaverse.
  2. Video analytics AI solution, Ipsotek’s VISuite AI software converts video data into actionable intelligence to optimise real-time situational awareness and enables users to efficiently manage automatically generated alarms in real-time for enhanced safety at their worksites. Leveraging Singtel’s 5G Network and Paragon, Intel Xeon platforms for Edge, and Axis analytics, VISuite AI has the ability to detect workers at risk and differentiate between objects and humans, including if they are not donned in the appropriate Personal Protection Equipment.
  3. With HTC’s integrated mixed reality solution and private network, Singtel’s 5G Network and Paragon, the companies developed a 5G real-time mixed reality solution that integrates 5G, virtual reality and 3D visualisation. This offers a highly efficient way of collaborating with real-time data streaming, visualisation, review and validation to support different verticals for real-time workspace collaboration. HTC also offers Private Network solutions powered by Intel FlexRAN.
  4. With the escalating demand for high-performance computing capabilities from cloud to edge, it is essential to deploy energy-saving technologies to remain sustainable. Quanta worked with Intel to develop QCT’s liquid cooling solution that can optimise performance, lowering the CPU temperature by 11.8 C and enhance power savings. It is now being trialed at Singtel Edge sites, with the aim of enabling a more sustainable edge compute solution for enterprises.

Intel, the Intel logo, and other Intel marks are trademarks of Intel Corporation or its subsidiaries.

5G Garage to incubate, develop and trial 5G solutions for enterprises

Singapore, 17 January, 2019 – Singtel, Ericsson and Singapore Polytechnic (SP) today opened the country’s first live 5G facility at SP’s Dover Road campus. The facility, named 5G Garage, is connected to Singtel’s latest pilot 5G network located at Ayer Rajah and runs on 3.5GHz trial spectrum granted by the Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA).

Conceptualised by Singtel and Ericsson, 5G Garage will serve as a training centre, test bed and ideation lab to develop Singapore’s 5G ecosystem and drive the adoption of 5G by enterprises in their digital transformations.

According to the latest Ericsson Mobility Report, 5G is slated to be the fastest generation of cellular technology to be rolled out on a global scale. With ultra-fast connectivity speeds and low latency rates, 5G is set to transform industries such as transportation, logistics, healthcare and manufacturing, and enable a future of smart cities, autonomous vehicles and Artificial Intelligence.

The first-of-its-kind 5G collaboration between enterprise, industry and an institute of higher learning in Singapore, 5G Garage was officially launched at SP’s Engineering Show 2019. The three parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) encompassing the following strategic objectives:

• Build and operate a 5G facility where enterprises can develop and test 5G solutions
• Co-develop 5G solutions relevant to industries such as transportation, logistics, healthcare and manufacturing
• Develop and deliver 5G wireless technology curriculum for the SP’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
• Develop 5G capabilities of our workforce

Mr Mark Chong, Group Chief Technology Officer, Singtel, said, “Singtel is pleased to partner Ericsson and SP on our 5G Garage initiative. As Singapore advances its digital economy and becomes a Smart Nation, the benefits of 5G will first be seen in enterprises, especially in their digital transformation when they integrate technology into their processes, services and products. With 5G standards largely established, now is an opportune time for SMEs and enterprises to join us in shaping our 5G future.”

Mr Martin Wiktorin, Country Manager Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines, Ericsson, states: “5G has the potential to transform industries and bring enhanced mobile broadband experience for consumers. At Ericsson, we are already collaborating globally with 42 operators, 45 institutes and 31 industry partners, to create a thriving 5G ecosystem. We are delighted to partner Singtel and Singapore Polytechnic towards the setting up of the 5G Garage, which we hope will stimulate SP students to come up with new 5G use cases.”

As part of the collaboration, around 250 final-year students from the Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Diploma in Computer Engineering will learn about 5G wireless technology and how to harness and apply it as part of their coursework. There will also be technology transfer from Singtel and Ericsson 5G experts to SP staff and students, through train-the-trainers, technical content sharing and advice on industry applications. Additionally, SP students in the Singtel Engineering Cadet Scholarship Programme will also have the opportunity to take up internships in the 5G Garage and develop solutions for real-life challenges.

Mr Soh Wai Wah, Singapore Polytechnic’s Principal and CEO, said, “This collaboration reflects our strong industry partnership, which is key to keeping our student learning relevant and updated. This latest collaboration will equip our students with skills in the latest technologies and nurture them to innovate and create solutions for the world.”

Three SP Engineering student projects – SP Secure drone system, SP Driverless and Electrifying Car, and Pipe Climbing Robot were selected for 5G development. They were featured during the 5G Garage opening event, with students presenting their projects to over 100 guests.

Local SME partners, Cloudzen and H3Dynamics, also showcased their innovations enhanced with 5G connectivity. Cloudzen demonstrated how their Cloud-based Entertainment Platform can deliver a seamless gaming experience and H3Dynamics performed real-time video analytics on a drone flight in a building façade and security surveillance use case.

5G Garage is the latest project in Singtel and Ericsson’s 5G Centre of Excellence programme which focuses on upgrading of employees’ skills, technology demonstrations, live field trials and collaborations with educational institutions. Last November, Singtel and Ericsson made Singapore’s first 5G data call over their 5G pilot network at one-north.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge couple sleek design with powerful performance including advanced camera features, water resistance and external memory

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd today announced the newest additions to the Galaxy family of products, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Created for today’s consumer lifestyle, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge lead the industry with a refined design, more advanced camera, streamlined software functionality and unparalleled connectivity to a galaxy of products, services, and experiences.

Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, brighter lens with wider aperture, and bigger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving people a completely immersive visual experience.

Refined Design and Function

The 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. From work to play, the device’s new Always-On Display, gives users a simplified, zero touch experience where they don’t need to worry about missing a call or important notification.

Without compromising design, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge both have increased utility with IP68 water and dust resistance. Game Launcher, a new add-on for gamers, allows users to manage battery consumption and minimise notifications. Additionally, people can record their gaming experience or share their screen to play with others. Paired with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Vulkan API gives gamers the ability to play high-performance graphic games with lower battery consumption.

The Galaxy Experience

Samsung continues to push the boundaries of hardware, software and services to create devices that are designed to help consumers connect, share, organise and get more out of life. The company is redefining what is possible, beyond the limits of today’s technology, by introducing a series of seamless mobile experiences.

Whether it’s the seamless connection between Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and the new Gear S2 Classic to monitor fitness, or connecting with Gear VR to “travel” the world – Samsung redefines what’s possible for the mobile experience and beyond.

Beyond the phone, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users can also get the best mobile payment service with Samsung Pay; it’s secure, easy-to-use and accepted almost anywhere. Protected by Samsung KNOX, fingerprint scanning and advanced tokenization, Samsung Pay works with NFC (Near Field Communication), MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) and Barcode technology, making mobile payments available to more merchants and consumers than ever before. The UK will be among several markets to launch Samsung Pay in 2016 and updates on availability will be provided in due course.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will go on sale in the UK on 11th March and customers can pre order from tomorrow (22nd February). StarHub’s mobile network undergoes extensive upgrades to enhance customer experience

leave a comment »

Singapore, 14 June 2013 – StarHub reaffirms its continued commitment to accelerating the ongoing enhancement of its mobile voice and data network on all fronts, so as to serve customers better. The bulk of StarHub’s multi-million dollar capital expenditure will go towards mobile network enhancements, such as installing modern, higher-capacity 4G and 3G base stations, upgrading the traffic handling capacity of our transmission backbone, and exploring large-scale small cell deployment to enhance coverage and capacity.

“Customer satisfaction is our top priority, and we are making every effort to ensure that our mobile customers remain truly happy with StarHub. We want to take this opportunity to share our strengths and more importantly, the multiple steps we have been taking to enhance network quality for our customers,” said Mr Mock Pak Lum, Chief Technology Officer, StarHub. “While we steadily expand our high-speed 4G network island-wide, we are also combining the use of intelligent solutions, such as video streaming optimisation, edge caching and small cell, with the increased deployment of modern 3G base stations to satisfy customer demand for mobile data services and crystal clear voice call quality.”

4G rollout update

StarHub’s 4G network which currently covers 75% of the island, is on track to hit 95% street-level deployment by October 2013. Concurrently, StarHub has been upgrading its dedicated fibre transmission backbone to support up to 1Gbps connection to each base station since April 2012.

3G enhancements

StarHub operates an enhanced 3G network, allowing customers on new smartphone and data-only plans with a compatible device to enjoy a faster, more consistent mobile surfing experience across Singapore. StarHub is the first local mobile operator to extend its 3G network on the 900MHz spectrum band to increase capacity, boost in-building coverage and further reduce its low dropped call rate. These enhancements which began early last year, will up StarHub’s 3G base station count by more than 40% come December 2013.

StarHub is also the first to offer unparalleled voice call quality to Singapore consumers with HD Voice. All StarHub Mobile post-paid customers with a HD Voice capable device can now enjoy natural sounding and clearer voice calls with noticeably lesser background noise. StarHub will enable this free feature for its mobile pre-paid users progressively from tomorrow.

Network optimisation

In a bid to enhance user experience amid rapid increase in mobile video traffic, StarHub has invested in a video streaming optimisation solution, which intelligently scales videos to fit the resolution and screen size of mobile users’ device. This network-based solution helps users conserve data as less bandwidth is required for each video session, resulting in faster start times and less buffering without significantly altering viewing quality. This network feature will be turned on for customers by year-end. Moreover, StarHub is exploring the use of edge caching to further improve web page load times by autonomously pushing popular web content to specific base stations based on user demand.

Low power base stations (small cell) trials

StarHub is first in Singapore to have started testing small cell technologies, which will be vital to enhancing network performance especially in high traffic density areas and coverage blind spots in the near future.

StarHub values customer feedback

Besides existing customer feedback channels, StarHub will launch a mobile app in 3Q2013 for its customers to easily submit location-specific feedback about the mobile network.

“Our network engineers pay close attention to the performance of our mobile network around-the-clock and promptly carry out enhancements based on prevailing network traffic conditions and customer feedback,” Mr Mock concluded. “Increasingly, we will harness big data to better understand our customers’ preferences and behaviours so that we can anticipate their future needs and further optimise our network accordingly.”

Designed around a revolutionary unified thermal core, the Mac Pro introduces a completely new pro desktop architecture and design that is optimised for performance inside and out. With next generation Xeon processors, dual workstation-class GPUs, Thunderbolt 2, PCIe-based flash storage, and ultra-fast ECC memory, the new 25.15cm tall Mac Pro packs an amazing amount of power into an incredibly small package.

“With the latest Xeon processors, dual FirePro GPUs, ECC memory, PCIe-based flash and Thunderbolt 2, all built around a revolutionary thermal core, the next generation Mac Pro is the most radical Mac yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “All this performance and expandability is packed into a dramatic new design that’s one-eighth the volume, and best of all, it will be assembled here in the USA.”

The next generation Mac Pro is architected around an ingenious unified thermal core that allows the desktop to efficiently share its entire thermal capacity across all the processors. The result is a pro desktop with breakthrough performance packed into a design that is one-eighth the volume of the current Mac Pro. Next generation Intel Xeon E5 processors with up to 12 core configurations deliver double the floating point performance. The new Mac Pro also features PCIe-based flash storage that is up to 10 times faster than conventional desktop hard drives and includes the latest four-channel ECC DDR3 memory running at 1866 MHz to deliver up to 60GBps of memory bandwidth.* With all that power, the new Mac Pro lets you seamlessly edit full-resolution 4K video while simultaneously rendering effects in the background.

The next generation Mac Pro is the most expandable Mac® ever built. With six Thunderbolt 2 ports that can deliver up to 20Gbps of bandwidth to each external device, Mac Pro is perfect for connecting to external storage, multiple PCI expansion chassis, audio and video breakout boxes, and the latest external displays, including 4K desktop displays. Each of the six Thunderbolt 2 ports supports up to six daisy-chained devices, giving you the ability to connect up to 36 high-performance peripherals. Thunderbolt 2 is completely backwards compatible with existing Thunderbolt peripherals, and allows you to transfer data between Macs faster and easier than ever.

The next generation Mac Pro will be available later this year. To learn more, visit www.apple.com/mac-pro.

Radio Stations Tailored to You Based on the Music You Listen to on iTunes

SAN FRANCISCO—10 June, 2013—Apple® today announced iTunes Radio™, a free Internet radio service featuring over 200 stations and an incredible catalog of music from the iTunes Store®, combined with features only iTunes® can deliver. When you tune into iTunes Radio on your iPhone®, iPad®, iPod touch®, Mac®, PC or Apple TV®, you’ll have access to stations inspired by the music you already listen to, Featured Stations curated by Apple and genre-focused stations that are personalised just for you. iTunes Radio evolves based on the music you play and download. The more you use iTunes Radio and iTunes, the more it knows what you like to listen to and the more personalised your experience becomes. iTunes Radio also gives you access to exclusive “first listen” premieres from top selling artists, Siri® integration, plus the ability to tag or buy anything you hear with just one click.

“iTunes Radio is an incredible way to listen to personalised radio stations which have been created just for you,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “It’s the music you love most and the music you’re going to love, and you can easily buy it from the iTunes Store with just one click.”

iTunes Radio offers music fans access to thousands of new songs every week, as well as serving up exclusive music from new and popular artists before you hear them anywhere else. Whether it’s an exclusive single from an up-and-coming band or a pre-release stream of an entire album, iTunes Radio has it all. iTunes Radio will also be home to special events including live streams direct from the iTunes Festival in London and other exclusive iTunes Sessions.

Coming this fall (in the US), iTunes Radio will offer you an incredibly personalised experience on day one based on your listening history and past purchases from iTunes. In addition, if you’re listening to a song you like from iTunes Radio or your music library you will be able to have a station built around those. It’s easy to create and customise stations based on whatever you want to hear. Search for artists, songs, or genres, and iTunes Radio will instantly build a station around your choice.

Let Siri make your listening experience even more fun. Ask Siri “Who plays that song?” or “Play more like this” and Siri will make it happen. Say something like “Play Jazz Radio” or ask for any of your existing favorite stations and genres. Shape your stations by telling Siri what you like and don’t like, or tell Siri to pause, stop or skip. You can also have Siri add songs to your Wish List to download later.

iTunes Radio is ad-supported and free for everyone. iTunes Match℠ users get iTunes Radio ad-free, so instead of hearing the occasional ad on iTunes Radio, iTunes Match makes your listening completely ad-free. With iTunes Match, all your music—even songs you’ve imported from CDs—are stored in iCloud®. So iTunes Radio can use information about your entire music collection to make your stations even more personalised. iTunes Match costs USD$24.99 (in the US) for a year.

Apple Releases Developer Preview of OS X Mavericks With More Than 200 New Features

leave a comment »

Apple Mac OS X Mavericks

Apple Mac OS X Mavericks

SAN FRANCISCO—10 June, 2013—Apple® today released a developer preview of OS X® Mavericks, the 10th major release of the world’s most advanced operating system. With more than 200 new features, OS X Mavericks brings Maps and iBooks® to the Mac®, introduces Finder® Tags and Tabs, enhances multi-display support for power users, delivers new core technologies for breakthrough power efficiency and performance, and includes an all new version of Safari®. The preview release of OS X Mavericks is available to Mac Developer Program members starting today. Mac users will be able to download Mavericks from the Mac App Store℠ this autumn.

“The Mac has consistently outpaced the PC industry and OS X continues to be the most innovative and easy to use operating system in the world,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “OS X Mavericks is our best version yet and features new Maps and iBooks apps, Finder Tags and Tabs, enhanced multi-display support, performance and energy saving features, and an all new Safari.”

Maps brings advanced mapping technologies from iOS to the Mac, including crisp vector graphics, stunning 3D view and interactive Flyover™. With Maps you can plan a trip from your Mac, then send it to your iPhone® for voice navigation on the road. Maps integration throughout Mavericks gives users helpful maps from within Mail, Contacts and Calendar, and developers can integrate the same powerful mapping features into their apps through the Map Kit API. With iBooks you have instant access to your existing iBooks library and iBooks also works seamlessly across your devices, so you can read a book on your Mac, make notes or highlights, and then pick up exactly where you left off on your iPad®.

OS X Mavericks introduces new power user features for the ultimate Mac experience. Tags are a powerful new way to organise and find your files anywhere on your Mac or in iCloud®. You can easily tag any file in the Finder, in iCloud, or when saving a new document. Tags appear in the Finder Sidebar to enable you to view files by project or category. Finder Tabs reduce the clutter on your desktop by consolidating multiple Finder windows into one window with multiple tabs. You can customise the view for each tab, move files between tabs, and even run the Finder with multiple tabs open in full-screen. Mavericks also makes using multiple displays even easier and more powerful. The menu bar and dock are available on any display, and users can now easily run windowed or full-screen apps on whichever display they choose, with no configuration required. With Mavericks you can also use your HDTV as a second display using Apple TV® and AirPlay®.

New core technologies in OS X Mavericks improve the energy efficiency and responsiveness of your Mac. Timer Coalescing intelligently groups together low-level operations so that the CPU can spend more time in a low-power state, saving energy without affecting performance or responsiveness. App Nap reduces the power consumed by apps that you’re not using. Compressed Memory technology keeps your Mac fast and responsive. When your system’s memory begins to fill up, Compressed Memory automatically compresses inactive data. When these items are needed again, Mavericks instantly uncompresses them.

The new version of Safari delivers blazing performance, innovative features and breakthrough technologies. Safari outperforms other browsers in energy efficiency, memory efficiency and JavaScript performance. Safari’s new process-per-tab architecture makes the browser more responsive, stable and secure. Safari also introduces innovations like Shared Links, which make it easy to discover, read and share interesting new content from Twitter and LinkedIn, all in one place.

Additional features in OS X Mavericks include:
• iCloud Keychain®, which safely stores your website login information, credit card numbers and Wi-Fi passwords, and pushes them to all of your devices so you don’t need to remember them. Information is always protected with AES-256 encryption when it’s stored on your Mac and when it’s pushed to your devices;
• an updated Calendar, which adds integration with Maps, continuous scrolling so you can zip through weeks or months, and a new Inspector to simplify event creation and editing;
• interactive Notifications, allowing you to reply to a message, respond to a FaceTime® call or even delete an email without leaving the app you’re using. Websites can now use notifications to keep you up to date on the latest news, scores and other information. While You Were Away Notifications make sure you see what happened while your Mac was asleep; and
• Xcode® 5, with powerful, intuitive new tools for developers that measure every aspect of app performance and energy use, as well as app testing.

Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the world, along with OS X, iLife, iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store.
